Walton VINE Inmate Coverage

Florida VINE is the statewide custody-information and notification service administered through the Florida Department of Corrections. FDC states that it receives information from all 67 county jails as well as state corrections. That scope includes Walton County Jail and state prisoners in the FDC system, including people associated with Walton Correctional Institution or Walton Work Camp.

The service follows an individual record. It can display custody status and agency information, then offer registration for changes supplied by that source. It is not a chronological Walton release list. It also does not make a county jail record and a state prison record interchangeable. A person who left Walton County Jail for FDC has ended the county booking but remains in custody. Select and interpret the record for the agency that actually holds or held the person.

Search Walton Inmates on VINE

Begin with enough identifying information to avoid a false match. A shared or common name is not enough. First and last name or an identification number can produce the candidate record, while the reporting agency, age or other displayed identifiers help distinguish people. Open only the record that fits the known custody path.

1. Open Florida VINE and choose the search for a person in custody.
2. Enter the first and last name or known identification number. Check spelling and any available name variation.
3. Compare the result's agency and identifiers with the known Walton booking or FDC record.
4. Open the matching person record and read the custody status and location exactly as displayed.
5. If the status is unclear or no result appears, verify through WCSO, FDC, or the correct federal system instead of assuming release.

The search form begins the process. Release confirmation comes from the matched record and the originating agency, not from a name alone.

Walton VINE Release Fields

VINE displays what the source feed provides. Field availability can vary between a county jail and FDC, and no official source promises that every out-of-custody result contains a release reason or stays searchable for a fixed time. Preserve the labels that appear rather than recasting them as stronger proof.

“Out of Custody” is VINE's downstream signal that the reporting source no longer lists the person in its custody. For a Walton jail booking, confirm the exact Release Date and time in WCSO Booking History. For a former state prisoner, use FDC's Inmate Release Information Search and read Date Out-Custody or other exact release labels. A future date is not proof that release has occurred.

Register Walton VINE Release Alerts

Register from the correct person record after identity and agency are matched. Select Notify Me of Status Changes, then use the phone, text, or email options offered for that record. Each destination must be entered and confirmed. Registrations are confidential and are not disclosed to the person in custody.

1. Open the matched record and select the status-change notification option.
2. Add each available phone, text, or email destination that should receive notices.
3. For each telephone registration, choose a four-digit PIN. The same PIN may be used for more than one phone.
4. Review the record and contact details, then confirm registration.
5. When an automated call arrives, enter the PIN to acknowledge it and stop repeat calls.

FDC guidance says that if no telephone PIN is selected, the service defaults to the phone number's last four digits. The PIN is not the person's DC number. It is also distinct from a temporary verification code that may be used to access an online registration. Keep every registered phone number and email address current.

FDC Victim Services also maintains a separate notification request process for qualifying requests. It should not be confused with an anonymous public VINE registration.

Walton VINE Call Behavior

Florida guidance says a busy or unanswered notification call may repeat every 30 minutes for as long as 48 hours. A message left on an answering machine may repeat every two hours until the four-digit PIN acknowledges it or the cycle ends. Each telephone number is separately registered, so one acknowledged line does not necessarily manage another registration.

Automated release notices may arrive at any hour. Use a direct number that can receive calls and keep its settings current. Telephone assistance is available through Florida VINE at 1-877-846-3435, 24 hours a day. A notice is useful for speed, but the source agency remains the place to confirm the exact release date, time, reason, or custody handoff.

PIN

A four-digit code used to acknowledge a VINE telephone notice.

Custody change

A source-reported event such as release or transfer.

Discharge

The end of a custody or supervision term, depending on the record.

Transfer

Movement to another custodian, which is not the same as release into the community.

Note: Keep the PIN private but available to the person responsible for acknowledging calls on that registered line.

Walton CommunityConnect Release Updates

In February 2026, WCSO announced a local notification initiative powered by VINE and Versaterm CommunityConnect. It can support updates that follow a matter from the initial call through investigation, court, incarceration, and release. This is Walton's local victim-notification layer, distinct from a public historical search of everyone released.

The local system may provide context across stages that a bare custody record cannot. Its purpose remains notification. It should not be described as a public 24-hour or 72-hour release archive, and a CommunityConnect update should be reconciled with the WCSO booking Release Date or the relevant court or FDC record when exact proof is needed.

The initiative adds a local communication route while Florida VINE continues to provide the statewide person-search and status-alert framework.

Note: CommunityConnect provides case updates for participants; it is not an open database of all Walton County releases.

Walton VINE and Registry Limits

Florida also maintains two narrow public registries that may contain a released person, but neither replaces a VINE inmate check. The FDLE Sexual Offender and Predator Search uses defined legal categories. One displayed status, Released – Subject to Registration, means the person is no longer confined or supervised by FDC, DJJ, a county jail, or another court sanction while a registration duty remains. Other labels can identify confinement, supervision, absconding, death, or deportation.

The FDLE career-offender search likewise covers only qualifying statutory designations. Its filters include name, region, city, county, ZIP code, type, and in-state status. A registry hit should be interpreted through the source label and the underlying court or FDC record. It does not mean that every former Walton County detainee belongs in a registry, nor does a missing registry result establish release.

These sources serve different purposes. VINE reports custody data and sends changes from participating agencies. A registry reports a continuing legal registration status for a defined group. WCSO and FDC release records remain the sources for the actual custody departure.

Confirm Walton VINE Release Results

VINE is not conclusive historical research. There is no published Walton retention period for out-of-custody results, no promise that every record carries the reason for release, and no assurance that a new event appears without delay. A reported county release should be checked against WCSO's actual Release Date. A state-prison release should be checked against the FDC release database, which updates nightly.

Federal systems have separate notification and locator rules. BOP and ICE should not be inferred from a Florida VINE search. Likewise, a Walton County Jail release followed by an FDC, federal, or immigration record may be a transfer. The record for the receiving custodian decides whether confinement continued.

A court order can explain why a release was authorized, yet it may not show when jail processing ended. Walton Clerk records should therefore be paired with the WCSO timestamp. For FDC, the release database and supervised-population search answer separate questions: leaving prison and remaining under community supervision. VINE can notify on the custody change, but it does not merge those records into one final legal history.
